Driverless sweeping robot to be launched on Eco Hi-tech Island

The Singapore Nanjing Eco Hi-tech Island located in Nanjing, East China’s Jiangsu province has lent help to a city program which seeks to implement an unmanned road sweeper and intelligent sanitation robot system.
The driverless sweeping robot project is being developed by a subsidiary of Nanjing Communications Group and was ed among Nanjing’s first group of innovative application scenarios to be developed.
A ceremony was held on July 13 to celebrate the country’s first successful application of unmanned road sweepers in cross-river tunnels.
The sweeper has good maneuverability and strong cleaning ability, and is able to work long hours with high efficiency.
Currently, the road sweepers run in cross-river tunnels only at night.
They will soon be put into use in the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) Forest Park and Jiangdao Intelligence Cube on the island, and are required to work on semi-closed roads in the daytime.
The technology can also be used in other areas such as stadiums and port areas, not only saving labor but also protecting the environment, according to a project head.
